Samsung recently launched the Galaxy F55, the company’s latest mid-range offering in its Galaxy F series. The Galaxy F55 is the first smartphone in the lineup to offer a vegan leather back.

With the Galaxy F55, Samsung has focused on offering a premium design, along with the company’s usual hardware and software experience. While most devices in the segment offer a plastic back, the company has offered a leather back, in two colour options.

I have been using the Galaxy F55 for a few weeks now, and here is my detailed review of the latest mid-range offering from the Korean smartphone maker.

Samsung Galaxy F55 price and availability

The Samsung Galaxy F55 is priced at ₹26,999 for the 8GB RAM + 128GB internal storage variant, ₹29,999 for the 8GB RAM + 256GB internal storage variant and ₹32,999 for the 12GB RAM + 256GB internal storage variant.

It comes in Apricot Crush and Raisin Black colour options and is available from Flipkart and the Samsung online store.

Samsung Galaxy F55 design and display

Design is one of the highlights of the Samsung Galaxy F55. The device features a vegan leather back and comes in a sleek and lightweight form factor. The device weighs just 180 grams and is easy to use even with a single hand.

The Samsung Galaxy F55 comes in two colour options – Apricot Crush and Raisin Black. I tested the Apricot Crush variant, which comes with an orange colour finish.

The back feels premium to hold and gives a good grip. It can be used without a case and will stand out among other devices. You don’t have to worry about fingerprint smudges with this device.

The Galaxy F55 comes with a revamped camera module, featuring three separate cutouts for the camera module and a separate cutout for the LED flash. At the back, the device comes with Samsung branding.

Coming to the display, the Galaxy F55 features a 6.7-inch Full HD+ Super AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and up to 1000 nits brightness support. The device comes with a punch-hole notch in the middle.

The high refresh rate and brightness support ensure a good experience and proper visibility, even in direct sunlight. Samsung is well known for its displays and this is evident in the Galaxy F55, which features a vibrant display.

Software and performance

The Samsung Galaxy F55 runs on Android 14 out of the box with the company’s OneUI 6.1 on top. Samsung has promised to provide four years of Android and five years of security updates with the device. Four years of Android updates means you will get up to Android 18, which is excellent for a device in this segment.

While OneUI is relatively cleaner compared to other UIs in the segment, the device still has its fair share of bloatware, including apps like Netflix, LinkedIn, OneDrive and others. The device comes with other pre-installed applications from Samsung and Google.

In terms of performance, the Galaxy F55 is equipped with the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 chipset. It comes in three storage options – 8GB RAM with 128GB internal storage, 8GB RAM with 256GB internal storage and 12GB RAM with 256GB internal storage.

I played popular titles such as Battlegrounds Mobile India and Call of Duty Mobile on the Galaxy F55. While the device can run the game smoothly, we did notice the occasional lag during extended gaming sessions.

The smartphone is powered by a 5,000mAh battery and offers 45W charging support.

Camera

The Samsung Galaxy F55 features a triple camera setup consisting of a 50MP primary camera with OIS, an 8MP ultra-wide-angle camera and a 2MP macro sensor.

The camera performs well in daylight, capturing good details and accurate colours. The device can properly focus on the subject and the images have minimal noise.

The ultra-wide angle camera also performs well and captures accurate colours with good details.

Coming to low light conditions, the device is able to capture decent details but there is some noise in the images.

On the front, the device sports a 50MP selfie camera. The selfie camera clicks decent images in daylight conditions.

Verdict

The Samsung Galaxy F55 is a good option for those looking for a mid-range smartphone from Samsung but do not want a boring plastic back. The device offers a good display, a smooth UI and decent cameras. It offers decent performance for regular users but may not be the best option for those looking for a gaming smartphone. Overall, it is a good device that offers a good balance between design, hardware and price.

If you are looking for a device that offers a more powerful processor and a bigger battery, you can also check out the OnePlus Nord CE 4, which is priced similarly.
