Pixel 8 launch on Oct 4 – From camera to design specifications, what we know so far

Google is all set to host its Made by Google event on October 4 in New York, where it is expected to unveil its Pixel devices, including the Pixel 8 series, the Pixel Watch 2 and other devices.

Google will also reveal more information about Android 14, including its new features and the rollout. The main highlight of the event will be the Pixel 8 series. Over the past few weeks, there have been several leaks around the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro, giving us a good idea about what to expect from Google’s upcoming event.

The Made by Google event will be held on October 4 in New York. Fans can watch the event on Google’s website and YouTube.

The Google Pixel 8 will run on Android 14 out of the box. The Pixel 8 is expected to feature a 6.2-inch Full HD+ OLED display with 60-120Hz refresh rate and up to 2,000 nits brightness.

Google has already confirmed that the new Pixel smartphones will be powered by the company’s new Tensor G3 chipset. Google first introduced the Tensor chipset with the company’s Pixel 6 series. The chipset will be coupled with the Titan M2 security chipset.

The device is expected to offer 8GB RAM with two storage options – 128GB and 256GB, just like its predecessor. At the moment, there is no information whether India will get both the variants or just the 128GB variant like the Pixel 7 series.

Coming to the camera department, the Pixel 8 is expected to feature a dual camera setup at the back consisting of a 50MP primary camera and a 12MP ultra-wide-angle camera. On the front, the device is expected to sport a 11MP selfie camera.

The Pixel 8 is expected to be powered by a 4,485mAh battery with 24W wired and 20W wireless charging support. The device is expected to be available in Haze, Jade, Licorice and Peony colour options.

Pixel 8 Pro



The Pixel 8 Pro will also run on Android 14 out of the box. It is expected to feature a bigger 6.7-inch Quad HD+ LTPO OLED display with 1-120Hz refresh rate. The brightness will also be higher as it is expected to offer up to 2,400 nits brightness.

The Pixel 8 Pro will also be equipped with the same Tensor G3 chipset coupled with Titan M2 security chipset. It is expected to feature 12GB RAM and offer up to 512GB of internal storage.

Coming to the camera department, the Pixel 8 Pro is expected to receive a major update. The Pixel 8 Pro is expected to feature a triple camera setup at the back consisting of a 50MP primary camera, a 64MP ultra-wide-angle camera and a 48MP telephoto lens. On the front, the device is expected to feature a 11MP selfie camera.

The Pixel 8 Pro is expected to be powered by a 4,950mAh battery with 27W wired and 23W wireless charging support. It is expected to be available in Jade, Licorice, Porcelain and Sky colour options.

Pixel Watch 2



The Google Pixel Watch 2 is expected to feature a similar design as its predecessor. It is, however, expected to come with minor changes, both to its exterior as well as interior.

The Pixel Watch 2 will come with an IP68 rating for water and dust resistance. To recall, the Pixel Watch was launched with a 5ATM rating. The crown on the Pixel Watch 2 has also been tweaked when compared to its predecessor. It is expected to be equipped with the new Qualcomm Snapdragon W5 Plus chipset and run on WearOS 4.

The Pixel Watch 2 is expected to offer a battery life of 24 hours with the always-on display enabled.
