OxygenOS 15 announced – key features, eligible devices and all you need to know

OnePlus is set to launch its latest flagship device, the OnePlus 13 in China on October 31 and ahead of the launch, it has announced the OxygenOS 15, the company’s latest operating system.

OnePlus has claimed that this OxygenOS 15 is the “lightest, fastest and most user-friendly operating system” the company has created. The company has promised smoother animations with the latest OS using its Parallel Processing technology.

OxygenOS 15 features

The OxygenOS 15 update brings a host of features, including improved animations, new AI-powered features, improved accessibility features and more.

Reduced storage needs

The company has claimed that the OxygenOS 15 update comes with a significant reduction in storage consumption. The system storage has reportedly been reduced by 20% , freeing up storage for personal use.

Parallel Processing

OnePlus has announced a new Parallel Processing technology which it claims enhances animation interactions and addresses laggy app switching issues. Parallel processing is aimed at eliminating delays due to animations by allowing multiple animations to run simultaneously.

In addition to app switching, you will also get an improved animation experience across the board.

AI features

As expected, AI will play a major role in the upcoming OxygenOS 15 update. The company has launched several AI-powered features, such as AI Unblur, which uses AI to fix blurry images. It has also introduced the AI Reflection Eraser, which removes reflections from images, offering a natural visual.

OnePlus has also introduced Intelligent Search, an AI-powered search feature that uses natural language processing to enable you to search across apps like Files, Notes and more to find what you are looking for.


It has also introduced the Circle to Search feature. It allows you to search for anything that you see on your screen by simply circling, scribbling or highlighting it. For example, if you are looking at a video and find a hat or a sunglass that you want to buy, all you need to do is launch the Circle to Search feature and circle the product.

UI

OnePlus has also launched several design improvements, including shelf cards that offer better customisation and a personalised interface. The update also brings a new boot animation, redesigned icons and more.

Share with iPhone

One of the most interesting features that the update adds is the “Share with iPhone” feature, which will make it easier to share files between OnePlus and iPhones, allowing you to easily send and receive files from your OnePlus device to your iPhone.

Safety features

The update also brings new safety features such as theft protection. If the device detects a sudden acceleration, the device will be locked to prevent unauthorised access.

OxygenOS 15 rollout schedule

The OxygenOS 15 open beta will start rolling out for OnePlus 12 users starting from October 30. The stable update will first be made available for the OnePlus 12, with other eligible devices to get the update later.
