  • Oppo latest flagship smartphone, the Oppo Reno Ace claims to be the fastest charging smartphone in the world.
  • The company claims that the Oppo Reno Ace’s super fast charging can go from 0-100% in 30 minutes.
  • The fast charger comes bundled with the Oppo Reno Ace and supports USB Power Delivery (USB-PD).
Oppo’s latest flagship smartphone, the Oppo Reno Ace, claims to be the fastest charging solution in the market so far.

Oppo Reno Ace’s fast charging technology -- dubbed SuperVOOC 2.0 -- can support upto 65W of charge for its 4,000 mAh battery. And, unlike other phones that have support for fast charging but you have to buy the charger separately, the Oppo Reno Ace comes bundled with the fast charger.

The fast charger adheres to Qualcomm’s Quick Charge standards and supports USB Power Delivery (USB-PD). The USB-PD feature maximises the functionality of the USB by being more flexible with its power delivery and balancing against data transfer on the same cable.

Fiery speed without the heat

Since 65W of fast charging is requires more power and more speed, it also generates more heat. According to the company, Qualcomm’s 855 Plus chipset’s composite carbon fiber coupled with its vapour cooling chamber should be able to maximise the Oppo Reno Ace’s CPU and GPU performance without the phone overheating.

Oppo Reno Ace specifications

Unlike the previous Oppo Reno phone, the Reno Ace ditches the ‘shark fin’ style pop-up selfie camera with a 16 megapixel front camera sensor nestled in the phone’s water drop notch.

The phone’s 6.5-inch Full HD Plus AMOLED display has a high refresh rate of 90Hz and a sampling rate of 135Hz, which should be able to handle most of the games offered in the app store. The higher the screen's refresh rate, the less lag and inconsistency between graphics.

The Oppo Reno Ace also has support for 4D gaming and Dolby Atmos dual stereo speakers.

It comes with 8GB RAM or 12GB of LPDDR4X RAM with 128GB or 256GB of UFS 3.0 storage.

The rear quad camera setup includes a 48 megapixel primary camera sensor coupled with an 8 megapixel ultrawide lens, a 13 megapixel telephoto lens and a 2 megapixel mono lens.

Oppo’s built in its own version of the night mode -- the Ultra Dark mode.

Unlike other flagship devices in the market, Oppo retains the 3.5mm headphone jack. It also has a USB Type-C port, Bluetooth 5.0, NFC and an in-display fingerprint sensor.

Oppo Reno Ace price and availability

The Oppo Reno Ace has only been launched in China but if its prices are anything to go by, Oppo is being fairly aggressive in a price competitive market. The base variant with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage costs 3,199 CNY (approx. Rs 32,000), while the top-end variant with 12GB RAM and 256GB storage is priced at 3,799 CNY (approx. Rs 38,000).
