As we draw closer to the OnePlus Nord 2 launch, more details about the upcoming smartphone keep popping up on the internet. This time, it’s the OnePlus Nord 2 Indian pricing information that has been leaked – and it may not seem great for the fans of the original Nord.

According to a leak by tipster Yogesh Brar, the OnePlus Nord 2 price in India will start at ₹31,999 for the 8GB + 128GB variant. There will be another variant with 12GB RAM and 256GB storage that could be priced at ₹34,999, which means the OnePlus Nord 2 will be significantly expensive when compared to the original Nord.

We suggest you take this leak with a pinch of salt, but this should at least give us a fair idea about how the Nord 2 could be priced officially.

For context, the flagship OnePlus 7 launched at ₹32,999 in India, featuring the top-end chipset from Qualcomm. The Nord 2 will be a mid-range smartphone, confirmed to be powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 1200-AI chipset.

However, given that OnePlus now has the Nord CE 5G in the same range as the original Nord, and the OnePlus 9R at ₹39,999, the Nord 2’s pricing slots it perfectly in between the two smartphones.

OnePlus Nord 2 specifications – what we know so far

Some benchmarks suggest that the Dimensity 1200’s performance is comparable with the Snapdragon 865.

In terms of imaging, the triple camera module on the back could house a 50MP primary camera along with an 8MP ultrawide angle snapper and a 2MP depth sensor. The punch-hole notch on the front of the phone could house a 32MP selfie camera.

OnePlus is banking on the artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities of the Dimensity 1200-AI chipset, for imaging, gaming and more.

There’s no 3.5mm audio jack to be seen in these renders. Notably, OnePlus had brought it back with the Nord CE 5G. Other than that, reports suggest that the Nord 2 could be powered by a 4,500mAh battery.

With this, OnePlus is expanding its Nord line of affordable smartphones, after debuting the first phone in this series last year. More recently, the OnePlus Nord CE 5G was launched in India, starting at ₹24,999.
