OnePlus Concept One: Everything we know so far
A report from Wired states that OnePlus is using electrochromic glass for the device. It is an electronically tintable glass which can hide the triple camera setup of the device when it’s not in use.
OnePlus once again partnered with British car manufacturer McLaren for the Concept One. McLaren offers electrochromic glass on some of its high-end cars and the same glass will reportedly be used for the Concept One.
OnePlus co-founder and CEO Pete Lau in a statement to Wired said that the Concept One was a “bold exploration for OnePlus, and is also a representation of overcoming a lot of [engineering] challenges”. Lau added that the company will gather ‘feedback’ from its unveiling and examine “the possibility of making a device that’s available for users more widely”.
It is likely that we may not see commercial launch of the Concept One anytime soon. When it’s launched, it is most likely to come with a hefty price tag and will be available only for a brief period.
