Smartphones have become an integral part of our lives, and many of us spend a lot on smartphones. They are easy to lose when you forget them somewhere or if someone steals them. In such cases, it becomes difficult to find your phone.The Department of Telecommunications has set up the Sanchar Saathi portal, which uses the Central Equipment Identity Register (CEIR) to help users to track and block their lost smartphones.
The Sanchar Saathi service is available across the country, and users must file a police complaint before they can use the portal.
How to block your smartphone on the Sanchar Saathi portal
Blocking your smartphone prevents it from being used by others while it is being tracked. Once you register on the platform, your device’s IMEI will be blocked, preventing the misuse of your device.

- To begin, go to the Sanchar Saathi portal here.
- Now, enter the details such as your name, mobile number, IMEI details, device’s brand, model and invoice.
- Then, you will be asked to enter the details of where you lost your smartphone. This includes the city, district, state and date.
- You will also have to enter details about the police station where you have filed a complaint, the complaint number and upload a copy of the complaint.
- At the end, you need to enter the details about the mobile owner, including the name, address, identity proof, and email.
- To submit the complaint, enter the captcha and verify the application using an OTP.
- Accept the declaration and click on “Submit”.
How to unblock your smartphone
Once you have found your smartphone, you can unblock it to start using it again.
- To unblock your smartphone, go to the Sanchar Saathi portal here.
- Enter the request ID you received while blocking your smartphone.
- Enter the mobile number and reason for unblocking the smartphone.
- Then, enter the captcha shown in the image and the mobile number for OTP.
- Enter the OTP and click on “Submit”.
