  • Google has finally announced the Pixel Fold, the company’s first foldable smartphone.
  • The Pixel Fold is scheduled to be launched at the company’s upcoming I/O event on May 10.
  • Here’s everything we know so far about the Pixel Fold smartphone.
Google is scheduled to launch the Pixel Fold, the company’s first foldable smartphone, at its I/O event on May 10, along with the Pixel 7a smartphone. The company announced the device in a teaser, revealing its design ahead of the launch.

While the Pixel Fold has leaked several times, this is the first time that Google has shown the device.

In a teaser posted on Twitter, the company used the tag “May The Fold Be With You,” to unveil the device. The teaser has revealed the complete design of the upcoming foldable phone from the search giant.
Google Pixel Fold – what’s new
Most of the things the teaser has showcased are already known, thanks to the several leaks over the past few months.

Going by the teaser, it seems Google has managed to hide the crease pretty well, and when opened, the device seems to have a creaseless display. The device also appears to have a sleek design.

The rear design resembles other Pixel smartphones, featuring a large bar that houses the rear camera setup. The device comes with two selfie cameras – one on the outer and one on the inner. We can see in the teaser that the inner selfie camera is placed on the right side.

The teaser has also revealed that the Pixel Fold will feature a periscope zoom camera at the back, just like the Pixel 7 series.
Pixel Fold launch in India
India has been a tough market for Google, with the company finding fewer takers for its premium devices than other countries. After skipping several versions of its flagship series, Google launched the Pixel 7 series in 2022, the first flagship launch from the company after the Pixel 3, which was launched in 2018.

The Pixel Fold is expected to be priced above $1,400 (approx. ₹1,14,300), so the company might skip launching it in India.

Google India’s Twitter account has not shared the teaser of the device, hinting that the device may not debut in India.

This does not mean India is not getting a new device at the I/O. Google India has already confirmed that the Pixel 7a smartphone will be launched in India on May 11.
Google Pixel Fold expected specifications
The Google Pixel Fold is expected to be powered by the company’s Tensor G2 chipset, coupled with up to 12GB of RAM. The device will feature a 7.6-inch Quad HD+ inner display with a 120Hz refresh rate.

The device is expected to feature a 5.8-inch Full HD+ OLED display on the outside.

The device has a triple camera setup at the back and is expected to feature a 48MP primary camera, a 10.8MP ultra-wide camera and a 10.8MP telephoto camera with 5x optical zoom.

We should know more about the device, including its pricing and availability in the coming days.
