Samsung today announced the launch of the Galaxy M31, the company’s latest offering in the Galaxy M series. The device is the successor of the Galaxy M30 and will go on sale in India starting from March 5.

The device competes with the Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 Pro in the budget segment. The Redmi Note 8 Pro is the latest offering in the Redmi Note 8 series and the first device in the Redmi Note series to feature quad rear cameras.

The Samsung Galaxy M31 has been priced starting at ₹14,999 and will be available in Ocean Blue and Space Black colour options via Flipkart from March 5.

On the other hand, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 Pro is priced starting at ₹13,999 and is available in Shadow Black, Gamma Green, Halo White and Electric Blue colour options from Amazon India and Mi online store.

Samsung Galaxy M31 vs Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 Pro: Design



Starting with the Samsung Galaxy M31, it features a dual-tone plastic body. While it may not look premium when compared to glass backs, it is more durable. The camera module also looks modern and is similar to the one on the Galaxy S20 series.

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 Pro on the other hand features a curved 3D glass back with Gorilla Glass 5 protection. The device looks premium and has a Wi-Fi X antenna for stable connectivity while gaming.

Both the devices feature dedicated dual SIM slots and a microSD card slot for storage expansion.

Samsung Galaxy M31 vs Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 Pro: Display

The Galaxy M31 features a 6.4-inch Full HD+ Super AMOLED display with an Infinity-U notch that houses the selfie camera. The front of the device is covered with the display.

On the other hand, the Redmi Note 8 Pro features a bigger 6.53-inch Full HD+ LCD display. It features a similar water-drop notch that houses the selfie camera. Similar to the Galaxy M31, the Redmi Note 8 Pro’s front also has minimal bezels.

The Verdict

Both the Samsung Galaxy M31 and the Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 Pro offer good specifications and value for money. If you are looking for a device with good battery life and are okay with a plastic body, the Galaxy M31 is the better option.

However, if you want a premium looking device with a glass body, the Redmi Note 8 Pro is the better option for you.
