Realme X50 Pro 5G vs OnePlus 7T: Battle of the affordable flagships
Feb 24, 2020, 18:59 IST
After much anticipation, the Realme X50 Pro 5G was launched in India today. One of the most ‘complete’ devices from the company, the Realme X50 Pro 5G is India’s first 5G smartphone. But that might not mean much when it comes to taking on the OnePlus 7T, which is its direct competitor.
The OnePlus 7T, on the other hand, builds on the success of the OnePlus 7 that was launched last year. While it comes with flagship hardware, can it fend off the competition from the Realme X50 Pro 5G? Only time will tell, but for now, let’s see how the two smartphones compare with each other.
Realme X50 Pro 5G vs OnePlus 7T: Price
The Realme X50 Pro 5G has been priced aggressively – it starts ₹37,999, which is quite good when you consider the hardware it has to offer. It is available for purchase from Flipkart.
The OnePlus 7T is slightly more affordable. It is available from Amazon India, OnePlus online store and OnePlus experience stores across the country.
Realme X50 Pro 5G vs OnePlus 7T: Specifications
Realme X50 Pro 5G vs OnePlus 7T: Design
The Realme X50 Pro 5G doesn’t stand out per se when it comes to design. Most of the front of the phone is covered by the display, while the back of the phone keeps things minimal with a matte design and a simple camera module on the top left.
Coming to the OnePlus 7T, you get a waterdrop notch display and minimal bezels. The major action, though, is on the back of the device. The glass on the back has a matte finish that gives a premium look. Topping it off is the circular camera module – while it may not be to everyone’s liking, it does add some flair to the phone.
Realme X50 Pro 5G vs OnePlus 7T: Display
The Realme X50 Pro 5G and the OnePlus 7T both offer almost the same display, save for a couple of minor differences. For one, the Realme smartphone has a slightly smaller 6.44-inch display while the OnePlus 7T has a 6.55-inch display.
The other difference is that while the Realme smartphone has a hole punch notch that houses two cameras, the OnePlus 7T has a regular waterdrop notch.
Apart from that, both the phones have the same display properties, including the refresh rate. As such, it’s a tie in this department.
The Realme X50 Pro 5G is powered by the latest flagship chipset from Qualcomm, while the OnePlus 7T uses the previous-gen chipset. In terms of real-world performance, you won’t notice any difference, but the Realme X50 Pro 5G does come with 5G support.
To be fair, India does not have any 5G networks yet, so it doesn’t make any difference even though the Realme smartphone has 5G support. It might make sense when 5G networks are up and running in the country, but until then, it doesn’t count as an advantage for the phone.
Other than that, both the Realme and OnePlus smartphones should offer blazing fast performance thanks to the fast memory and storage chips.
The Verdict
With that being said, the OnePlus 7T offers a more mature platform thanks to OxygenOS. In the end, it boils down to whether you trust a relatively new brand like Realme or not – if you do, then go with the Realme X50 Pro 5G. Otherwise, the OnePlus 7T is a great option.
