The year 2019 has been pretty good for smartphone enthusiasts. After being beaten by Google and Huawei for a while, Apple stepped up its game in terms of photography. Samsung and Huawei, on the other hand, gave us a glimpse into the future with their first foldable smartphones.

For the year 2020, we have a series of high-end smartphones lined up for launch. If you are in the market for a new smartphone, you might want to check out this list of upcoming smartphones in 2020.

Samsung Galaxy S20 series

The Samsung Galaxy S20 series is all set to be announced at the Galaxy Unpacked event on February 11.

There have been several leaks around the Galaxy S20 series, giving us an idea about the smartphones ahead of the launch. Primary highlights include a 120Hz display, a 108MP camera and a vastly improved fingerprint sensor.

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip

The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip will be Samsung’s second attempt at a foldable smartphone. It is scheduled to launch alongside the Galaxy S20 series.

The Galaxy Z Flip is expected to sport a clamshell design with a foldable display. It is also expected to be a lot more affordable than the original Galaxy Fold, which could allow foldable phones to go mainstream.

OnePlus 8, OnePlus 8 Pro

While OnePlus may not have a path-breaking design in the works, it could continue to perfect its high-end affordable flagship formula with the OnePlus 8 series.

The major highlight so far is that OnePlus is bringing back the notch display, according to reports. However, OnePlus is stepping up its game with the new 120Hz display technology.

Microsoft Surface Duo

Microsoft showed off the Surface Duo last year, revealing a dual-screen phone with a foldable design. Microsoft’s CEO Satya Nadella was recently spotted using the phone in public.

Microsoft says that the Surface Duo is designed for productivity, and Windows integration will be one of its selling points.

Apple iPhone 12

Apple regained its photography mojo with the iPhone 11 last year. But there may be bigger changes coming to the iPhone in 2020.

It is expected that the iPhone 12 could come with 5G support and a new design. Apple is also said to remove the giant notch and offer a full-screen experience again.

Google Pixel 4a series

The Pixel 3a seems to have been a hit in markets like the US, in large part due to its affordable price tag. Unsurprisingly, Google is said to be working on the Pixel 4a. Reports suggest that it could be an affordable version of the Pixel 4 series.

According to the report, the Pixel 4a could come with a punch hole notch for the camera. If true, this will be a major design change coming from the Pixel 3a.

Google Pixel 5 series

Google’s Pixel smartphones have had a rocky history so far. While the cameras have received praise from all quarters, the features and other design elements have not been well-received. The Pixel 4 series couldn’t even launch in several markets due to regulatory restrictions.

While it may not sell in big numbers, the Pixel series is Google’s answer to the iPhone, and for that reason, it remains one of the most important launches of 2020.
