Microsoft released Windows 7 in October 2009. After providing support to users for 10 years, the company ended it on January 14, 2020. An update to fix a critical vulnerability will be the last update for Windows 7 users.

Microsoft had announced a free upgrade to Windows 10 for Windows 7 and Windows 8 users. While the official upgrade period ended in 2016, you can still get a free upgrade if you have Windows 7 or Windows 8.1.

How to upgrade from Windows 7 to Windows 10
Microsoft had announced a free upgrade to Windows 10 for Windows 7 and Windows 8 users. While the official upgrade period ended in 2016, you can still get a free upgrade if you have Windows 7 or Windows 8.1.
- To get started, first back up all the important documents, photos and other files.
- Now, go to Microsoft’s Windows 10 download page.
- Under the ‘Create Windows 10 installation media’ section, click on ‘Download tool now’.
- Now, run the downloaded file.
- Select ‘Upgrade this PC now’ and click on ‘Next’.
- You will then be asked if you want to keep your personal files or start fresh. Choose an option.
- Follow the remaining prompts.
- Once the upgrade is complete, go to Settings > Update & Security > Activation to find your digital license for Windows 10.
