How to play Apple Music on Sonos speakers, and stream music in every room of your home

  • To connect Apple Music to your speaker, head to the "Services & Voice" menu in the Sonos app and follow the steps to add your account.

Sonos is a stereo system that allows you to play music however you get it — whether it's Spotify, Tidal, or Apple Music.

To play Apple Music on your Sonos speakers, you'll have to add the service to your speaker, and then log in through the Sonos app. Once you do that, you'll be able to access Apple Music songs on your speaker at any time.

Additionally, when you search for a song, Sonos will include generated results from Apple Music.

Here's how to do it using any Sonos speaker, and the Sonos app on any smartphone or tablet.

How to play Apple Music on your Sonos speaker

1. Open the Sonos app on your mobile device.

2. Tap the "Settings" tab.

3. Tap "Services & Voice" from the list.

4. On this page, you'll find a list of any music services you've added so far. To add Apple Music, tap the "Add a Service" option at the bottom of the page under the "Music & Content" heading next to the plus (+) sign.

5. This will open a pop-up. Apple Music should be one of the first options (as apps are listed in both alphabetical and popular order) though you can use the search bar to filter results if needed. Tap on "Apple Music" next to its icon.

6. This will bring you to a description page. Tap the "Add to Sonos" button.

7. This will open another, smaller pop-up. If you don't have an account, tap "Start Trial" to sign up for Apple Music. If you already have an account, select "I'm already a member."

8. Sign in with your username and password. Tap "OK" to continue forward. If you already have your Apple ID saved, it may automatically populate your information. Tap "Continue" when you're done entering your login information.

9. This will bring you to an additional pop-up. You can rename your account at this time. For example, Sonos will usually use an automated name such as the first part of your email address but you can replace it with your first name if you'd prefer.

10. Tap "Done" to complete the process.

Apple Music should now appear in the "Browse" section of your Sonos app. Tap on it to view its details.

You'll now find Apple Music in the alphabetical list of streaming services.Marissa Perino/Business Insider

You will see a version of the Apple Music app within the Sonos app. You can browse by artists, albums, songs, or playlists. If you use the "Search" function instead of the "Browse" tab, results will now include Apple Music.
