How to clear your cache on HBO Max to help the service run more efficiently and fix playback issues

How to clear the cache on HBO Max in a web browser

Using Chrome

1. At the top-right of the Chrome window, click the three-dot menu button.

2. In the menu, click "More tools" and then click "Clear browsing data…"

3. In the Time range drop-down menu, choose "All time." Then be sure to check the option for "Cached images and files."

4. Click "Clear data."

Using Firefox

1. Click the History and Saved Bookmarks menu button. It resembles a set of books standing on a shelf.

2. Click "History" and then click "Clear Recent History…"

3. In the Clear Recent History window, set the Time range to "Everything." Make sure "Cache" is checked, and then click "OK."

Using Safari

1. In the menu bar, click "Safari."

2. Click "Preferences."

3. In the Preferences window, click the Privacy tab and then click "Manage Website Data…"

4. Select "Remove All."

How to clear the cache on HBO Max on an iPhone, iPad, or Apple TV

On an Apple device, you can't clear the cache for an app like HBO Max, so the easiest way to resolve a potentially corrupted cache is to delete the app and then reinstall it.

How to clear the cache on HBO Max on an Android device

The exact steps to get to the HBO Max's cache settings may vary slightly depending upon which Android phone you have, but this should get you there on most devices:

1. Start the Settings app.

2. Tap "Apps" and scroll down until you see HBO Max in the list of apps installed on your phone. Tap it.

3. Tap "Storage."
