Audiences around the world have a problem of plenty with all the great content on OTT platforms like Netflix, Amazon Prime or Hulu. Netflix seems to have taken the first step to stop the seemingly endless scrolling from every user before arriving at a movie or a show to watch. And CEO Reed Hastings wants to call it the "I'm feeling lucky" option.

Netflix is rolling out its latest feature globally where with just one click, the OTT platform will pick a movie or a show for you to watch. The feature has been under testing since August 2020 and was called “Shuffle Play”.

During its fourth quarter earnings call, Netflix confirmed the development. “A new feature that we've been testing and we're going to now roll out globally because it's really working for us, where our members can basically indicate to us that they just want to skip browsing entirely, click one button and we'll pick a title for them just to instantly play,” said Greg Peters, Chief Operating Officer and Chief Product Officer at Netflix during the call.

While the final name for the feature hasn’t yet been decided, Netflix CEO Reed Hastings jokingly asked, “Greg, are we going to call it, "I'm feeling lucky"? Or are you going to come up with something better?”

Netflix, in the fourth quarter, surpassed 200 million subscribers globally. The company also reported $6.64 billion in revenue and earnings per share of $1.19 during the quarter. Interestingly, Spence Neumann, Chief Financial Officer of Netflix said that the APAC region was the second largest contributor to growth in the last quarter.
