  • The rangoli stretches out over 250,000 square feet and was made using over 2500 kilograms of seeds.
A tribute to Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, a revered Maratha king in India, has been caught on camera by Google Maps and can be seen from space.

The artwork was originally created in February as a tribute to the warrior king on Shivaji Jayanti, 19 February. It stretches over 240,000 square feet on a six acre farm. It is the world’s biggest rangoli — an Indian artform of creating murals on the floor — of Shivaji.

The video of the farm went viral when Godman Chikna (@Madan_Chikna), a Twitter user, shared it on the social networking platform.

Mangesh Nipanikar, the artist behind the innovation, has won a Guiness Book record in 2015 for completing a rangoli that stood against farmer suicides — a troubling problem in Maharashtra where a large part of the population is involved in agriculture but has mounting debts to face.

The entire project took over 2,500 kilograms of seeds to accomplish.
