On November 1, Elon Musk announced that Twitter will be charging users for the blue tick. Earlier, the blue checkmark was provided free of cost but only to accounts considered ‘active, notable, and authentic accounts of public interest’, independently verified by Twitter.
However, in a series of tweets, Musk said users will now have to pay USD 8 per month if they want to get their account verified with the blue tick. Musk also said those who will be paying for blue tick will get a few additional features like ‘priority in replies’ and ‘mention & search.’
The option to pay for a blue tick was launched earlier this year but rescinded after a slew of fake accounts impersonating celebrities and brands paid for the blue checkmark and tweeted false information. As per reports, it has been relaunched for USD 8, but Apple users will need to pay USD 11.

In a blog post, Twitter announced that they will begin adding a new video carousel from which users can watch popular videos including movie teasers. To discover videos, a user has to swipe up and videos will open in the full-screen immersive video player.
Earlier, Twitter increased the character limit from 140 to 280 characters and now, on November 6, Elon Musk tweeted that ‘Twitter will soon add the ability to attach long-form text to tweets, ending (the) absurdity of notepad screenshots.’ This means Twitter will soon increase the character limit to 4000 - a fact Musk confirmed when responding to a Twitter user.
According to The Verge, Elon Musk might turn Twitter into a bank in the future, “enabling people on Twitter to (be) able to send money anywhere in the world instantly and in real-time.” Users might also get a debit card attached to their Twitter balance for making payments while shopping. While Musk has proposed the idea, it's not yet clear if it will be made live in 2023 or not.
