The Indian government on Monday banned TikTok, one of the most popular apps in India along with 58 other Chinese apps claiming that these apps are ‘engaged in activities which are prejudicial to sovereignty and integrity of India, defence of India, security of state and public order.’

Just a few hours after the ban was announced, TikTok was removed from the Play Store and the App Store in India. However, users who have already downloaded the app will be able to use the app for now.

It is expected that the government may ask internet service providers (ISPs) and telecom operators to stop users from accessing TikTok.

TikTok users have now started asking their fans on the app to follow them on other platforms such as Instagram and YouTube. Once the TikTok stops working, these creators will shift to the other platforms.

Some TikTok creators have asked their fans in live broadcasts to follow their Instagram account and subscribe to their YouTube channel. Additionally, TikTok users are also adding their Instagram usernames and YouTube accounts in their new videos.

While TikTok creators are asking their fans to follow them on Instagram, some creators have also said that Instagram does not provide the same reach as TikTok.

“I didn't use Instagram as a platform to post regular videos as it doesn't provide the reach we were getting on TikTok.” a TikTok creator said in a statement to Gadgets 360.
