WhatsApp allows you to restrict who can add you in a WhatsApp group. This saves you from the hassle of having to quit from random groups that you have been added in to. If you are tired of being added to random groups and reading those long good morning messages, continue reading to find out how to stop others from adding you in a WhatsApp group.

How to stop others from adding you in a WhatsApp group

  • Open WhatsApp on your phone.
  • Tap on the overflow button (three dots) on the top right corner and click on settings.
  • Now, click on ‘Account’.
  • Then, click on ‘Privacy’.
  • Now, tap on ‘Groups’ and you will see three options.
  • You have the option to select between three options: “Everyone”, “My Contacts” and “My Contacts Except”.
  • Select any one option from above, depending on who you want to be added by.
It must be noted that even if a person cannot add you to a group, they still can send you an invite to join the group in the form of a message. You have the option to accept or reject the invite depending on whether you want to join the group or not. The invite link is valid for 72 hours, so you will have enough time to decide whether you want to join a group or not.
