Google's impressive magic eraser can now be used on Apple iPhone and Samsung Galaxy devices—here’s how

On Thursday, Google announced that it is making Magic Eraser, its photo editing tool that utilizes machine learning and AI to remove unwanted elements from photos, available to all Google One subscribers on Google Photos. Previously, this feature was only accessible to Pixel 7 and Pixel 6 smartphone users. Additionally, Google Photos on both iOS and Android smartphones will receive new collage styles and an HDR video effect feature.Google has revealed that the Magic Eraser tool, previously limited to Pixel 7 and Pixel 6 series phones, will now be accessible to all Google One subscribers, regardless of their subscription plans. According to the company’s announcement, even owners of earlier Pixel models, including the Pixel 5a, can use Magic Eraser on Google Photos without a subscription.
Here’s how to use the magic eraser tool
- Open Google Photos.
- Tap the photo you want to edit to open it.
- Magic Eraser may appear as a suggested editing tool, but if you don’t see it, tap Edit > Tools > Magic eraser.
New HDR video effect and more editing features
Additionally, Google has announced that videos will now have the HDR effect, which enhances brightness and contrast. This new feature will create balanced and dramatic videos that are easy to share. The rollout for this feature will be the same as the Magic Eraser and has started today.
Additionally, Google has enabled all users to apply Styles to a single photo in the collage editor. Users with Google One or Pixel can access a wider range of new Styles when creating collages.
Furthermore, Google One subscribers will now receive free shipping on Print Store orders (including photo books, canvas prints, and photo prints) in the United States, Canada, European Union, and the United Kingdom.
