  • Call of Duty records 100 million downloads within the first week of its launch.
  • This is five-times the amount of downloads that PUBG and Fornite were able to garner in their first seven days.
  • Consumer spending on Call of Duty till $17.7 million.
PlayerUnknown’s BattleGrounds (PUBG) and Fortnite are two of the biggest mobile games. And, they have a new competitor to face off against — Call of Duty, the legendary PC game.

Call of Duty was once the world’s biggest entertainment franchise and now is taking over mobile gaming too. It was downloaded over 100 million times within a week of its mobile launch, according to Sensor Tower’s blog post. This is the highest that any mobile game has ever seen.

India was the second most popular destination for the game after the US, accounting for 13.4% of the downloads.

Call of Duty Mobile sets a new record

Call of Duty’s 100 million downloads is nearly five times the amount of downloads that PUBG and Fornite got in their first week.

A little more than half of Call of Duty’s downloads came from iOS, while Android accounted for 44.3% of unique installs.

Fornite’s reach was limited since it only launched on iOS. PUBG Mobile, on the other hand, launched on iOS and Android. Even then, it was only able to garner 28 million downloads in its first week.

The closest that any other game has come to Call of Duty’s record is Mario Kart Tour, which raced to 90 million downloads in the first seven days.

Call of Duty’s original developers, Activision, partnered with Tencent’s Timi Studio to develop the mobile version.

The game also performed well in terms of consumer spending. Its revenue collection out paced PUBG and Fornite hitting $17.7 million. This means for every download, the game was earning $0.17 on an average.
