This "exceptional" diamond consists of 32.33 carats - each one is worth £328,807 ($463,965).

Petra Diamonds has announced that it has sold an "exceptional" pink diamond for nearly £10.7 million ($15 million).

The Jersey-based diamond mining company announced that it recently recovered the 32-carat diamond, which we first read about on The Financial Times, from the Williamson mine in Tanzania.

The Williamson mine is known for yielding high-quality "bubblegum" pink stones, according to the company's announcement of the sale.

The valuable rock was purchased by Golden Yellow Diamonds for the diamond manufacturer M. A. Anavi Diamond Group, which specialises in coloured diamonds, according to Petra's announcement.

Each of the diamond's 32.33 carats is worth a remarkable £328,807 ($463,965).

Though it's already been sold, Petra will end up making more money from the diamond. The company is retaining interest in the value of the diamond once it's polished, which means it will get 10 percent of that price too.

Business Insider contacted Petra Diamonds to find out more about the diamond, but no further information is currently available.
