Chandni Bar to be remade, Tabu approached for a pivotal role

It was in 2001 that Tabu, considered to be one of India’s finest actresses, had given a breathtaking performance in the movie Chandni Bar, which was directed by acclaimed director Madhur Bhandarkar.

And now, after 15 years, there has been some news about the sequel of the hit movie, which had also got Tabu her second National Film Award for Best Actress, along with three other National Film Awards that the movie had bagged.

According to the reports, the sequel has been named ‘Chandni Bar 2 Ruby Bar’, and will be directed by writer-director duo, Harish Kotian and Sandeep Choudhary. The movie, like the original one, would revolve around the lives of Mumbai bar dancers, but after the ban imposed by the government.

Even though nothing has been confirmed as of now, Tabu has been approached for a primary role in the movie, along with Suchitra Pillai, Sachin Khedekar and Zakir Hussain.
