Suresh Prabhu wonders about the spread of deliberate
misinformation about bullet trains

In the Lok Sabha session today, India’s Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu wondered whether there was a campaign running to spread deliberate misinformation against the introduction of bullet trains in the country, adding that they were not in conflict with the 'normal' trains.

Prabhu was responding to a series of questions during the Question Hour on the slow speed of trains, when he wondered if there was deliberate misinformation being spread about a conflict between bullet trains and normal trains.

He even went ahead to remind everyone that funds for the proposed bullet train will come from Japan, also adding that the bullet trains’ technology will be useful for improving the services of normal trains, with the integration of signalling, tracks and availability of rolling stock enhancing their speeds.

He added that once the dedicated freight corridor comes up, world’s busiest trunk road, the Kolkata-Delhi trunk route will have some load of goods trains shifted off its back.
