Supreme Court seriously considering limiting fire-cracker bursting time on Diwali

The Supreme Court on Friday said it was seriously considering to limit fire cracker bursting on Diwali between 5pm and 10pm.

A bench headed by the Chief Justice of India H L Dattu asked the Centre to respond to this suggestion. The counsel for three toddlers have pleaded for restricting cracker bursting between 7pm and 9pm.

SC ordered the centre and state governments to give wide publicity in print and electronic media about the ill effects of fire crackers.

SC also asked the teaching community to actively and vigorously spread awareness about the ill effects of fire crackers among students.

The court was hearing the toddlers petition complaining about the poisonous pollution enveloping cities and towns and seeking a complete bannon crackers.

SC gave a week to the Centre to respond to the suggestions made by the petitioners ans posted it for hearing on October 27
