Technology is changing how human resource departments track employee performance.

HR tech's global market size was $1.6 billion in 2019 and will reach $3.6 billion by 2024. What's more, at least 87% of business leaders say tech will play a greater role in sourcing and outreach over the next three years, according to a 2019 Deloitte Global Human Capital Trend report.

As HR teams become more technologically savvy, they are increasingly investing in new workplace tools to make their day-to-day lives easier. Some of the most popular workplace tools are Workday, BambooHR, and UltiPro, according to Okta's 2020 Business at Work report.

The report used data from thousands of Okta customers to select tools that had the most customers and active users, those who have logged onto the app via Okta, or have used it at least one time in last 30 days. A growing number of customers and users on these platforms suggests that technology is not just streamlining HR's hiring process, but making it easier to for HR teams to manage day-to-day tasks.

"Automating the low-value add or administrative functions, enables HR leaders to focus on strategic issues that will really move the needle for their organizations," Okta's Chief People Officer, Kristina Johnson, wrote in an email to Business Insider. "Candidates that are mired in cumbersome and lengthy interview processes often see that as a reflection of the companies digital journey and may self select out."
