Elon Musk's rebranding of Twitter to X is a step toward creating a super-app he's dreamt of – but ditching the iconic blue bird emoji could prove a risky move for the company, according to Wedbush analyst Dan Ives.

"We believe the rebranding to "X" logo for Musk and Twitter is all part of this Twitter transformation that will eventually lead to the super app concept down the road," Ives said in a Monday tweet.

Tech billionaire Musk revealed plans to revamp Twitter's logo on Saturday, asking tweeters to suggest graphic ideas for his new X app.

"And soon we shall bid adieu to the twitter brand and, gradually, all the birds," Musk tweeted. "If a good enough X logo is posted tonight, we'll make go live worldwide tomorrow," he added.

The new logo pays homage to Musk's master plan to turn Twitter into a"super-app or as the Tesla CEO calls it, an "everything app" that encompasses everything from shopping and food delivery services to banking.

The grand vision would take inspiration from Tencent's WeChat, Musk previously suggested.

But according to Ives, the new logo move isn't all positive. "That said, losing the iconic world-renowned bird logo is a risky move from a branding perspective we believe," he wrote.

Many Twitter users have also joked about the rebranding, with some even mocking Twitter CEO Linda Yaccarino's supporting statement to a cringeworthy business pitch featured in popular TV series "Succession."
