Top gainers and losers on Nifty50 today

Out of the 50 stocks on the benchmark Nifty50 index, only five stocks were in the green as of 12.40 p.m. today.

Hero MotoCorp (Gainer)

Shares of the two-wheeler maker were up by over 3 percent, snapping a three-day losing streak.

The tobacco-to-paper giant was amongst the key stocks holding Nifty up to a great extent, contributing nearly 200 points alone. It was up by over 1 percent.

Another FMCG giant, Britannia, was marginally up, with its shares gaining a little over 0.2 percent.

Shares of the transport finance company were up by nearly 2 percent, extending gains from the previous day.

HDFC Life (Gainer)

HDFC Life gained nearly 4 percent while the market was braving a bear hug, but by afternoon, it lost most of the gains, with its shares barely in the green.

Cholamandalam Finance (Loser)

The investment and finance company’s shares snapped the gains made yesterday, shedding nearly 9 percent today.

Coforge (Loser)

Shares of the IT solutions provider tumbled by 13 percent in trade today before recovering. It is still down over 6 percent now.

The air conditioner and home appliances maker came under selling pressure, with its shares down by over 6 percent in the first half of trade today.
