The most important component of a year planner is the list of holidays. As with any other sector, the stock market too has its own set of holidays. Information about the days the market will remain closed is important for investors to plan their activities and investment decisions. In this article, you will find the complete list of Indian Stock Market Holidays for 2023.

BSE and NSE holidays 2023

BSE and NSE are the two stock exchanges in India. Founded in 1875, BSE or the Bombay Stock Exchange is older than the NSE or the National Stock Exchange, which was founded in 1992. Even with respect to trading, BSE is far ahead of NSE as it houses more stocks than the NSE. However, it’s possible to list shares on any one of these exchanges, or on both of them simultaneously.

Even during the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic spell, these two stock exchanges were fully functioning. Stock market runs from Monday through Friday and is closed on the weekend, i.e. Saturdays and Sundays. There is also a typical set of holidays for stock exchanges other than the weekend holidays.

India is a nation of multiple languages, states, and religions and hence its system of holidays is quite complex to understand. Therefore, a single list of holidays does not work across all the different industry segments. Therefore, the stock market has its own typical set of holidays which is updated yearly.
