The Golden State Warriors pulled out a huge Game 5 win over the Houston Rockets on Wednesday that was rife with drama.

The Warriors built a massive first-half lead, only to see it evaporate in the second half as the Rockets came roaring back. Then in the third quarter, catastrophe appeared to hit the Warriors, when Kevin Durant came up limping on a non-contact injury to his heel, prompting fears he tore his Achilles tendon. He left the game and was later diagnosed with a calf strain.

With their best scorer out, the Warriors stayed alive, led by heroic performances from Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, Draymond Green, and reserve center Kevon Looney, who came up with several big rebounds and defensive plays. The Warriors held on for the 104-99 win to take a 3-2 series lead.

After the game, Warriors head coach Steve Kerr channeled Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp - whose teams scratched and clawed on Tuesday for a remarkable comeback over Barcelona to make the Champions League final - and called his team "f---ing giants."

"I don't know if you're a soccer fan," Kerr said. "But Liverpool yesterday came out with one of the great wins in soccer history. After the match, their manager, Jurgen Klopp said, 'The young kids in Liverpool are probably asleep, so I'm just gonna go ahead and say it, but our boys are f---ing giants.'

"That's what he said. And I know how he feels. So I apologize to my mom, who is probably watching, but our guys are f---ing giants. That was an unbelievable victory tonight."

Here's Kerr's answer:

Though Liverpool is now on the biggest stage, perhaps getting reinforcements with the return of Mo Salah, the Warriors still have some big questions to answer, namely with Durant. Durant appeared to dodge a bullet with his injury, but his availability going forward is still uncertain.

The Warriors will try to close out the Rockets in Houston in Game 6 and may be without Durant. If the Rockets can extend the series, it returns to Oakland for a decisive Game 7.

With or without Durant, the Warriors will need more "giant" performances from the rest of their team.
