<p class="ingestion featured-caption">The 1924 Summer Olympics were held in Paris, the same location as this year's games.Hulton Archive/Getty Images; MICHEL EULER/POOL/AFP/Getty Images</p><ul class="summary-list"><li>The 1924 Summer Olympics were held in Paris, the second time the city ever played host.</li><li>The <a target="_blank" class href="https://www.businessinsider.com/guides/streaming/how-to-watch-olympics-live-stream-paris-2024">Olympics</a> will be held in Paris again this year, and the facilities have gotten quite an upgrade.</li></ul><p>The last time Paris hosted the Olympics was 100 years ago, in 1924 — and the games looked drastically different.</p><p>Ahead of this year's Summer Olympics, we looked at how Paris is paying homage to the 1924 Games and how the city has changed its approach since it last hosted 100 years ago.</p><p>The <a target="_blank" class href="https://www.businessinsider.com/paris-olympics-costs-tickets-stadiums-2024-7">cost of staging an Olympic Games</a> — in either century — is staggering.</p><p>According to a <a target="_blank" rel=" nofollow" class href="https://wallethub.com/blog/olympics-fun-facts/22356"><u>WalletHub</u></a> report, Paris is estimated to have spent $8.2 billion on the 2024 Olympic Games. The country spent an estimated 10 million francs in 1924, according to "A Look At Olympic Costs" at <a target="_blank" rel=" nofollow" class href="https://library.olympics.com/Default/doc/SYRACUSE/2288084/a-look-at-olympic-costs-by-frank-zarnowski?_lg=en-GB"><u>The Olympic Studies Centre.</u></a></p><p>This year, Paris is dedicated to reusing and restructuring as many <a target="_blank" class href="https://www.businessinsider.com/olympics-paris-stadiums-venues-photos-2024-6">existing facilities</a> as possible in an effort to be more sustainable. According to the <a target="_blank" class href="https://olympics.com/ioc/news/paris-1924-celebrating-a-century-of-change">Olympics</a>, the city is also reusing some original facilities used during the 1924 Games, including the Stade Olympique de Colombes, which is now known as the Yves-du-Manoir Stadium.</p><p>Here's a look at the <a target="_blank" class href="https://www.businessinsider.com/richard-norris-williams-titanic-survivor-olympics-gold-medalist-2024-7">1924 Olympics</a> compared to this year's games.</p>
