Due to the ongoing military conflict between Russia and Ukraine, the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) is considering moving the venue from St. Petersburg, where the final match was to be held.

A final decision on the venue is still pending and it is yet to be decided by UEFA. “With regard to the 2022 UEFA Champions League final in Saint Petersburg, we would like to inform you that UEFA is constantly and closely monitoring the situation and any decision would be made in due course if necessary,” said UEFA in a statement.

Some media reports say that Wembley Stadium in England is under consideration as an alternative venue for hosting the final.

According to media reports, if the final match is played on the decided venue, then Saint Petersburg will become the second city in Russia after Moscow to host a champions league final.

Russia was supposed to host the UEFA Championship League 2021 final, but due to COVID-19 travel restrictions it was moved to Porto, Portugal.
