Tokyo Paralympics

Sport for athletes who are physically challenged has existed for more than 100 years, and the first sport clubs for the hearing-impaired were already in existence in 1888 in Berlin.

Devendra Jhajharia — Javelin F-46

In 2004, Jhajharia qualified for his first Summer Paralympic Games representing India at Athens and set a new record of 62.15 metres. He also won the gold medal at the 2016 Paralympics in Rio de Janeiro.

Ajeet Singh — Javelin F-46

He is currently being supported by the Olympic Gold Quest. He took part in the 7th World Para Athletics Grand Prix held in Beijing, China, 2019 and won a gold medal.

Sundar Singh Gurjar — Javelin F-46

He won a silver medal in javelin throw and a bronze medal in discus throw in Asian Para Games 2018. He also set a world record at the 16th Para Athletics National Championship in Panchkula winning three gold medals in three events.

Sandeep Chaudhary — Javelin F-64

He represented India at the 2018 Asian Para Games in Jakarta, Indonesia where he won a gold medal and set a new world record of 60.01 metres.

Sumit Antil — Javelin F-46

Sumit Antil broke his own record with an effort of 66.90 metres to claim the gold medal during the National Para Athletics Championship.

Navdeep — Javelin F-41

Navdeep, whose first international event was the 2017 Asian Youth Para Games, produced a brilliant throw of 43.58 metres in his third attempt to take the gold in men’s javelin F-41 event and secured a quota for the Paralympic Games.

Ranjeet Bhati — Javelin F-57

He has an impairment to his leg as the result of an accident in 2012. He is currently coached by Krishan Kumar, personally.

The javelin thrower was India's flag-bearer during the opening ceremony of the Tokyo Paralympics 2020.

A couple of weeks ago, India’s javelin star Neeraj Chopra had become the first Indian to win an individual gold in the Olympics in track-and-field, at the Tokyo Olympics 2020.
