Indian athletes have appeared in every edition of the Summer Paralympics since 1984, though they made their official debut at the 1968 Summer Paralympics. The latest edition at Tokyo is being held from 25 August to 6 September 2021.

Lekhara is India's first woman to win a Paralympic gold medal while also setting a new Paralympic record and equaling the world record.

The Indian Paralympic high jumper made his maiden appearance in Tokyo and also won a silver medal in the men's high jump T47 category with a new Asian record of 2.06 metres.

Yogesh Kathuniya bagged the silver medal in the men's discus throw F56 event on Monday by registering his best throw at the finals. He started off with a foul, but saved his best for his final throw, when he registered a throw of 44.38 metres.

Devendra Jhajharia won the silver medal in the men's javelin throw F46 final event on Monday at the Tokyo Paralympics with his best throw of 64.35 metres. He is also the first Indian athlete to win two gold medals at the Paralympics.

Sundar Singh Gurjar, born in 1996, is an Indian Paralympic javelin thrower, shot putter and discus thrower. He won a bronze medal at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympics in the men's javelin F46 event.

Vinod Kumar, who bagged India's third medal at the Tokyo Paralympics, secured a bronze in the men's discus throw final in the F52 category. He seems to have lost his bronze medal on Monday after the competition committee found him ineligible in the disability classification assessment.
