"Our team strives to make visuals that are striking to viewers, and we take the role of freezing moments for the world to see very seriously," Getty Images chief sports photographer Maddie Meyer told Business Insider. "I look at this collection of photos and feel the range of emotions sport can create. I feel excitement, sorrow, and awe for the achievements and dedication of these athletes."
