Taylor Swift will need to time travel to attend the Super Bowl
  • The Kansas City Chiefs won their playoff game 17-10 and are going to Super Bowl LVIII.
  • Taylor Swift, who is dating Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, is expected to appear at the game.

The Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday won their playoff game against the Baltimore Ravens 17-10, taking them to the Super Bowl for the second year in a row.

But, more importantly, that means Taylor Swift will likely be in attendance at the big game.

Swift, who has been dating the Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce since September, has a scheduled concert in Japan on Saturday, February 10 — less than 24 hours before Super Bowl LVIII kicks off. Still, it's expected by fans she'll fly directly to Las Vegas to celebrate her beau's accomplishment.

Here's how she can be in two places at once

"How in the world could she get to the game?" NFL Network's Ian Rapoport said Sunday in a post on X, formerly Twitter. "Let me introduce you to something called the international date line."

The international date line is the boundary separating each calendar day from the next as time zones change around the world — so when traveling back from Tokyo, which is 17 hours ahead of Las Vegas, Swift can cross it and save herself some time.

The concert, scheduled for 6 p.m. local time in Tokyo, starts at 1 a.m. Las Vegas time.

"Let's say it's a five-hour concert, ends about 11 p.m. local, which is 6 a.m. Saturday in Las Vegas," Rapoport added. "Figure a 12-hour flight, maybe she leaves about an hour later, Taylor Swift could still get to the Super Bowl, to Vegas, about 7 or 8 p.m. Saturday night — just in time to party."

Flight 1989 to Las Vegas

Minutes after the Chiefs' win, American Airlines made new direct flight tickets available from Kansas City to Las Vegas on flight 1989 — a sly reference to one of Swift's most iconic albums.

Return flights are also available from the airline on flight AA 87, referring to Kelce's jersey number.

"We are excited to welcome football fans to the city, as they experience all that Las Vegas has to offer," KMBC reported Lewis Townes, American Airlines Director of Las Vegas Operations said of the flights. "These additional flights will give sports fans more direct travel options so that they can touch down, rally with fellow sports fans and cheer on their favorite team."

Super Bowl LVIII

The Detroit Lions and San Francisco 49ers are now facing off to see who takes the second slot at Super Bowl LVIII, which will, for the first time, be hosted in Las Vegas and is expected to rake in record levels of sports betting.

Usher will be headlining the halftime show.

If the Chiefs and star quarterback Patrick Mahomes bring home the championship again at this year's game, they'll be the first back-to-back Super Bowl winners since the 2003-04 New England Patriots.
