The 2022 Winter Olympics kicked off in style in Beijing on Friday with a spectacular opening ceremony at the city's Bird's Nest stadium.

The two-hour spectacle featured amazing visuals including these giant glow sticks which turned from green to white to represent the coming of winter.

A team of ice hockey players helped kick off the games by firing a giant multi-colored puck across the stadium.

The famed Olympic rings then emerged from a virtual block of ice before rising above the stadium for all to see.
