A scary scene unfolded on Sunday between the Pittsburgh Steelers and Baltimore Ravens, as Steelers quarterback Mason Rudolph was knocked out by a hit.
Early in the third quarter, Rudolph left the pocket and made a throw while running to his left. He was sandwiched by two Ravens players and was hit head-to-head by Ravens safety Earl Thomas. Rudolph appeared to be knocked out in mid-air and landed awkwardly.
The play can be seen below (Warning: some may find video disturbing):
Rudolph stayed on the ground for several minutes while Steelers players gathered around him. Wide receiver Juju Smith-Schuster grew emotional during the scene.
Eventually, however, Rudolph was helped to his feet and appeared responsive. He walked off the field with some help.
Rudolph was ruled out for the game. Third-string quarterback Devlin Hodges filled in for Rudolph.
