Mirza has won 14 medals out of which 6 are gold medals. 7 medals were won across different Asian games in both women’s doubles and mixed doubles. She clinched one silver medal in women’s singles and a bronze in women’s doubles at the CommonWealth games held in India in 2010.

On April 13, 2015, Mirza was ranked number one in doubles as per Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) rankings, the first Indian female player to do so. She adorned that throne for 91 weeks in her career.

She is the only female Indian player to win a WTA title. She had won the title twice, in 2014 and 2015.

Mirza won her first Grand Slam title in 2009 by winning the Australian Open partnering Mahesh Bhupathi and the second one at the French Open in 2012. She secured her third mixed doubles slam in 2014 at the US open, partnering with Brazilian player Bruno Soares.

Mirza, together with Swiss player Martina Hingis won the Wimbledon and US Open titles in 2015. She won her third title at the 2016 Australian Open.

Mirza was also honoured with Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna and Padma Shri awards in 2015 and 2006 respectively. She was named in the Time magazine's 2016 list of 100 most influential people in the world.
