Haryana is sending 31 athletes to Tokyo Olympics | The state government has announced that the sportspersons who win a gold medal will be given a cash prize of ₹6 crore.

With six players -- four in hockey and two in wrestling, Sonepat district has contributed the most number of Olympians, followed by Kurukshetra and Jhajjar | Nahri village in Sonepat is hoping that Ravi Dahiya, the wrestler, will return from Tokyo with a medal.

From Haryana, 9 players are part of the women’s hockey team | Also 7 wrestlers of the contingent are from the state.

Punjab, which had 14 athletes during the Rio Olympics, is now entering the Tokyo edition with 19 athletes | The Punjab government has announced ₹2.25 crores for an Olympic gold medalist | The state’s sports minister, Rana Gurmit Singh Sodhi, mentioned that the state has the ability to win at least 3 to 4 gold medals.

Punjab’s athletes will be participating in 4 different categories | 11 athletes from Punjab are part of India’s men’s hockey team and two belong to the women’s hockey team.
