Haryana has contributed the major chunk of athletes for the Tokyo Olympics

India is participating in the Tokyo Olympics 2020 with 127 athletes in 18 different disciplines | 40 percent of the total count is from Haryana and Punjab

Haryana tops the list

Haryana is sending 31 athletes to Tokyo Olympics | The state government has announced that the sportspersons who win a gold medal will be given a cash prize of ₹6 crore.

Six from Sonepat, Haryana

With six players -- four in hockey and two in wrestling, Sonepat district has contributed the most number of Olympians, followed by Kurukshetra and Jhajjar | Nahri village in Sonepat is hoping that Ravi Dahiya, the wrestler, will return from Tokyo with a medal.

Punjab in second place

Punjab, which had 14 athletes during the Rio Olympics, is now entering the Tokyo edition with 19 athletes | The Punjab government has announced ₹2.25 crores for an Olympic gold medalist | The state’s sports minister, Rana Gurmit Singh Sodhi, mentioned that the state has the ability to win at least 3 to 4 gold medals.

Tamil Nadu

Tamil Nadu will be sending 11 athletes to Tokyo and will be participating in 5 different events | Chief Minister, M K Stalin, has announced ₹3 crore as the cash prize for the gold medal winners.

Kerala and Uttar Pradesh in the fourth position together with 8 athletes

Kerala, which has always given the best females athletes for the country, is entering the Tokyo Olympics with an all-male crew after 40 years | A total of 8 athletes will be participating in 5 events from Uttar Pradesh
