FIFPRO said FECOFA, the Congolese Federation of Football Association, failed to book pitch time for the team before they trained on the dirt road on September 25. FECOFA also failed to pay for hotel rooms for the players on October 12, forcing them to sleep outside in their tracksuits.
"FIFA is deeply concerned about the recent images that have emerged on social media of the Congolese U-20 women's national team," FIFA said ina statement to Insider. "Player welfare is a top priority for FIFA and we have taken immediate steps with authorities in the country, including FECOFA, to guarantee the safety and welfare of all players involved."
