Kaepernick sat or kneeled during the American national anthem throughout the 2016 NFL season as a protest against the treatment of black people by police.

The quarterback was all but banished from the NFL for his actions, and has not played since canceling his contract with the San Francisco 49ers in March 2017.

Kaepernick has been attempting to make a comeback to the sport this year, however no teams have yet offered him a deal.

It is unclear where the Dre and Kaepernick posed for their snap, but the picture has been liked over 430,000 times, including by sporting stars such as LeBron James and Kevin Durant.

Dre and Kaepernick have a long history, dating back to 2013 when the quarterback signed a deal with Beats by Dre prior to the company being sold to Apple.

Following Kaepernick's decision to take a knee, his name was featured on the back of a jersey of a young black man in a powerful 2017 advert for the headphones giant which urged viewers to "rise above the noise," according to CNET.
