Cristiano Ronaldo was substituted for the second match in a row, sulked and stormed off the pitch, then left the stadium before Juventus' match against AC Milan had even finished.

The Portuguese star was dragged off in the 55th minute by Juve boss Maurizio Sarri. Ronaldo's performance at the Allianz Stadium was disappointing as he managed only one shot on goal and completed just 75% of his passes.

Ronaldo appeared to be angry at his manager's decision and, after a brief exchange of words, headed down the tunnel. He was out of the stadium three minutes before the final whistle, according to Sky Sports Italia.

To rub salt in his wounds, the man who replaced him, Paolo Dybala, went on to score the winner in a 1-0 victory for the reigning Serie A champion.

It was the second time in less than a week that Ronaldo was substituted for Dybala, after the Argentine replaced him in the 82nd minute on Wednesday, as Juventus beat Lokomotiv Moscow 2-1 in the Champions League.

After the match, Sarri said he was unaware of Ronaldo's early departure, but that if it was true, he should speak to his fellow players to resolve any issues.

"Disrespectful to his teammates? Like I said, I don't know," the former Chelsea FC and SSC Napoli manager told reporters, according to The Guardian. "If it's true that he left before the end it is a problem to be resolved with his teammates."

But the Italian also said he was not worried about Ronaldo's reaction to being substituted, instead saying he would be worried if the five time Ballon d'Or winner wasn't disappointed at being hauled off early.

"If [Ronaldo] gets angry when he comes out this is part of the game. It's only natural a player is going to be irritated about leaving the pitch, especially when he worked so hard to be there.

"All players who are trying to give their best will have at least five minutes of being annoyed when they are substituted, but a coach would in general be much more worried if he didn't seem upset."

Juventus' victory means it remains unbeaten in Serie A this season, and leaves it one point ahead of Inter Milan at the top of the table.
