Suni Lee may not have won a medal in her final event of the Tokyo Olympics, but she was all smiles as the final gymnast completed her routine.
It turns out the 18-year-old American breakout star was a fan of China's Guan Chenchen.
After powering through her routine in Tuesday's balance-beam final, Lee was an active observer as Guan pieced together a nearly flawless routine on the apparatus.
Videos showed Lee, the individual all-around champion, jumping, clapping, and cheering as Guan flipped and finessed her way to a gold medal.
At certain points, Lee could even be heard encouraging the 16-year-old with shouts of "Come on!"
On Twitter, Lee responded to a video showcasing her support for Guan with "i love her sm."
With the end of the balance-beam final, the artistic-gymnastics events at the Tokyo Olympics have officially come to a close.
Lee will head back to the United States with a complete set of medals: gold in the individual all-around, silver in the team all-around, and bronze on the uneven bars.
