Two American boxers hit each other so hard at the same time that the end result was an ultra rare double knockdown.

It all went down in the opening bout of a Top Rank-promoted show at the MGM Grand Conference Center, colloquially known as "The Bubble," in Las Vegas, Thursday.

The two fighters involved were the 21-year-old welterweight Corey Champion and the 26-year-old boxer Peter Cortez.

You had to be an eagle-eyed viewer if you were watching on Sports Center, as it happened while ESPN sportscaster Bernardo Osuna was talking about the event with Sage Steele.

Fortunately there were many cameras held from multiple angles which were focused on the action, and Top Rank put a slow-motion montage together for your viewing pleasure, which can be seen below.

Champion scored three knockdowns in total, winning a first round stoppage and advancing his record to 2 wins (2 knockouts) against 3 losses.

Cortez, meanwhile, falls to 2 wins (1 knockout) against 2 losses.

Heavyweight fighter Carlos Takam outpointed Jerry Forrest in the card's main event, earning a 10-round decision win with scores of 98-92, 97-93, and 96-94.

It was Takam's fourth consecutive win after suffering back-to-back losses against British fighters Anthony Joshua and Dereck Chisora in England.
