South Korean President Fires Spokesperson For Allegedly Molesting Intern During US Trip

In the middle of a high profile trip to the United States, South Korean President Park Geun-hye fired spokesman Yoon Chang-jung for an "unsavory" act.

Korean media outlets are reporting that Yoon is "accused of molesting an intern at the Embassy in Washington, DC.," according to Voice of America Northeast Asia bureau chief Steve Herman.

According to a report in the Chosun Ilbo, Yoon was drinking at a hotel bar with members of the embassy staff. Washington D.C. police were then called by an intern, but they did not arrest Yoon, Chosun reports.

Yonhap News have confirmed that police are investigating the report of a Misdemeanor Sexual Abuse, though they did not name Yoon. A police report seen by Yonhap says that a 56-year-old male allegedly "grabbed [a female victim's] buttocks without her permission" at a hotel.

Yoon returned home to Korea Wednesday. Park had drawn criticism for appointing the former journalist and columnist, with the Korean Herald writing that his columns were considered "sensational, standoffish and biased."
