Rae Bareli Election Results: Sonia Gandhi wins Rae Bareli by over 1 lakh votes

UPA’s Sonia Gandhi won in Rae Bareli with 55.8% vote share

UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi is contesting from Rae Bareli against Dinesh Pratap Singh of BJP. Sonia Gandhi's position strengthened after the Samajwadi Party and the Bahujan Samajwadi Party did not field any candidate against her.

For the first time Sonia Gandhi is contesting from Rae Bareli when she is not the Congress President. Her campaign was mainly handled by her daughter Priyanka Gandhi and son Rahul Gandhi.

Her rival Dinesh Pratap Singh is an ex-Congressman who accused his former party of dynastic politics. Sonia Gandhi enjoys a lot of goodwill among the people in the constituency which in the past had elected former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi to the Lok Sabha. Though it appears an easy contest for Sonia Gandhi, the final outcome of this high-profile seat will be keenly watched.
