Smart Cities: Siemens CEO, HDFC chief meet Union Minister M Venkaiah Naidu

Further strengthening the bond between India and Germany through PM Modi’s Smart City project, Germany electronics major Siemens has proposed to offer integrated solutions for initiative.

A high profile delegation which included President and CEO of Siemens, Joe Kaeser and HDFC Chairman Deepak Parekh met Union Urban Development Minister M Venkaiah Naidu to discuss possible areas of cooperation in the 'Smart City Mission'.

Pitching Siemens as the right partner for the ambitious project, Kaeser said that the company could offer integrated solutions to potential smart cities which included urban infrastructure, energy, security, waste management and governance platforms and ranging from planning to execution.

The five-member delegation also referred to a MoU signed with industry body CII for tying-up with Smart City Mission based on a consortium approach.

The company claimed to have potential financers in Deutsche Bank and KFW to fund its services.
