TJAY: Assistance to epileptics

TJAY: Assistance to epileptics
TerraBlue XT founder Rajlakshmi Borthakur’s son Tejas suffered from epilepsy from birth but late diagnosis worsened his condition. Tejas often required emergency care. All that Rajlakshmi wanted was a device or a solution that gave her enough lead time to rush him to hospital. That was when she came up with TJay, an IoT-based wearable platform that enables remote monitoring of epileptics, accurate diagnosis as well as timely intervention. Named after Tejas, TJay, a smart glove capable of sensing electrical signals from body, provides alerts for seizure onset and sends real-time notifications on companion apps. It monitors epilepsy, psychological state and vital signs for required duration. It also enables data to be analyzed by doctors to provide customized reports. TJay built on Intel® XDK, Intel® Edison board was among the top 3 winners of Intel & DST- Innovate for Digital India Challenge.
“With TJay, we took our first step in unravelling the mysteries of the brain. As an organization, TerraBlue XT will persist in its journey of a thousand miles, attempting to make the quality of lives of people with chronic disorders better, safer and happier,” says Rajlakshmi.

MIRCaM

MIRCaM
Cardiac Design Labs’ MIRCaM is not a cellphone app, but a device designed to detect conditions that occur sporadically. MIRCaM (Mobile Intelligent Remote Cardiac Monitor) is a comprehensive suite comprising a body worn unit, patient’s bedside unit, MIRCaM doctor’s terminal and MIRCaM Doctor’s Mobile App. It provides real-time analysis and generates instant alarms on episode detection, thus enhancing patient care and safety. It gives new possibilities for monitoring of vital parameters with wearable biomedical sensors, and provides patients the freedom to be mobile and still be under continuous monitoring. MIRCaM was awarded ‘The Most Innovative Product’ at IESA Technovation Awards 2014 and it was the winner of ‘Walk The Talk’ competition at Intel Conference 2015.

Tellmare

Tellmare
Tellmate is a pair of glasses/eye wear that helps the visually impaired people to visualize their surroundings through sound. The device converts images into sound and feeds it to the person in an audio format using hearing aids.
With the help of this device, people can walk around unfamiliar places, recognize and avoid obstacles, read newspapers, hoardings or any offline text in real-time.
For example: If the visually impaired person wants to use the public transport. He/she gives a simple command to Tellmate like ‘Navigate me to the airport’. The Tellmate will first search for the nearest bus stop and using voice, directs the person to the nearest stop. Then it will check each arriving bus. When the bus-number and its data matches with speech processed destination, it will ask the person to board the bus. During the journey, it will also inform about each bus-stop or landmarks. “With Tellmate, I hope to better the life of Visually Impaired People, making them an inclusive part of and true beneficiaries of the Digital India Initiative,” says Gunjan Gupta, the founder of the solution.
