MS Dhoni played at Number 5 instead of Yuvraj Singh. Many questioned his move as India was chasing 274 runs made by the Lankans. But, Dhoni’s presence of mind paid-off and he created history.

Another tactic by Dhoni proved fruitful when he asked Hardik Pandya to bowl a ‘back-of-length’ delivery. This was when Bangladesh required just two runs off the last ball and Pandya did exactly what Dhoni him to. Dhoni removed his one of his gloves beforehand and India won the match.

This happened when India and Pakistan finished the match at 141, resulting in a famous bowl-out between India and Pakistan. This time Dhoni chose Harbajhan Singh and two part-timers Robin Uthappa and Virender Sehwag to bowl during the bowl-out. India won the match.

Even though Cheteshwar Pujara had failed in his first innings, Dhoni gave him a chance during the second innings and sent him at Number 3, ahead of Rahul Dravid. He made 72 which justified this decision and also helped India take an unassailable lead in the test series.

In this match, Dhoni promoted Suresh Raina up on the batting order and the latter proved his worth and Dhoni’s decision right. Raina made a brilliant 74 in the match.
